About ten years in digital marketing, now doing it solo for Australian service businesses. This is the honest story of who I am and how I ended up here.

Mihajlo Poznan is the founder and sole operator of Poznan Digital, a lead generation agency based in Sydney, Australia. Originally from Belgrade, he has spent around ten years in digital marketing and sales, and previously ran his own agency building marketing systems for service businesses such as law firms, accountants, physios and clinics. He moved to Australia in late 2024 and now builds and runs complete client-getting systems for Australian service businesses, one client at a time.
I'm Mihajlo Poznan. I moved from Belgrade to Sydney about a year and a half ago, after a trip to visit family turned into meeting the woman who's now my wife.
Before Australia, I spent roughly a decade in digital marketing. I ran my own agency and worked mostly with service businesses like lawyers and accountants, the kind of people who are brilliant at their job and would rather not think about marketing at all.
Now I'm building that agency again here, from scratch. Just me, one client at a time.
That's the gist. If you want the honest, longer version, keep reading.
I've been doing some version of this since I was a teenager. My mum sells women's clothing, so I built her a little online shop and ran it. Nobody was paying me. I just wanted to see if I could make it work, and I loved figuring out what got people to actually buy.
That turned into my first real job, at a marketing software company called MerchantPro. On paper I was an account manager. In a small team you're really everything, so I onboarded clients, taught them how to use the software, redesigned entire shops for the bigger accounts, and sat with owners working out where their marketing was leaking. That's where I learned this properly. Not from a course, but from hundreds of real businesses and what did and didn't work for them.
While I was there, I started my own agency on the side, Poznan Solutions. At first I'd take on anyone. Over time I noticed I did my best work for service businesses, lawyers and accountants, the people who are excellent at what they do but have no time or patience for marketing. So I focused there, and I built one system I could run for all of them.
A couple of things from those years tell you the sort of operator I am. A restaurant I'd redone a website for asked me to build them a booking system. I'm not really a coder, but I worked it out and built them a proper booking platform with reminders and the lot. They're still using it today. And a company called Kopa Shopping brought me in for a few hours a day to help rescue a struggling project. When it worked, they asked me to run their whole sales and marketing, and we signed two new clients in the first month.
Then, in December 2024, I came to Australia to visit family. I met a girl. I fell in love. And somewhere in there the plan changed. We decided to build our life here together, and she's now my wife.
That decision cost me the businesses I'd spent years building. The time difference made it impossible to look after my Belgrade clients properly, so I closed the agency rather than do a half job of it. I resigned from Kopa. And I started again, from nothing, on the other side of the world.
Two things I saw over and over pushed me into working the way I do now.
The first is how lost good business owners feel with all of this. Someone can be the best physio or accountant in their suburb and still freeze when it comes to marketing. It's a foreign language to them, and that's fair enough, it isn't their job. But it means they're easy to sell to, because they can't always tell a real plan from a good pitch.
“We all know first page in a month isn't real. They know it too. They just bet the owner doesn't.”
Which brings me to the second thing. My industry has a lying problem. I've lost count of the marketers promising “first page of Google in a month,” then delivering nothing once the money's paid.
I'm not going to pretend everyone in marketing is a cowboy. There are good people doing good work. But there are enough of the other kind that a lot of owners have been burned, and now they flinch at anyone who shows up making promises. I don't blame them.
So I built the opposite of what burns people. One connected system instead of scattered tactics, and plain numbers instead of vanity metrics. And the big one: no promise I can't put my own money behind, which is why I don't get paid until the work has done what I said it would.
That's not a marketing angle. It's just what I wish more people in my industry did.
I'll be straight with you, because the whole point of this page is to be. I'm new to the Australian market. My years of work and my results are back in Belgrade, and they don't count for much to someone in Sydney who's never heard of me. I don't have a wall of local case studies yet, because I haven't earned them here yet.
A lot of marketers would paper over that with borrowed logos and testimonials you can't check. I'd rather just tell you.
Here's what I do have. I built the exact system I'd build for you on my own business first, and ran it end to end, because I wasn't going to sell something I hadn't run myself. And because I can't point to a pile of local names yet, I do the next most honest thing. I carry the risk. I build your system and run it, and I don't get paid until it's put real appointments in your calendar. You don't have to trust my word. You get to watch it work first.
That's the trade I'm offering while I build my name here. I take the risk a burned owner shouldn't have to take, and I earn the case studies the only honest way there is, by actually delivering. When those first Australian results are in, they'll go on this site with real names and real numbers. Not before.
Every agency says they value honesty and transparency. Words are cheap. So here's what those words actually mean in how I work, the things you can hold me to.
Not a salesperson today and a junior next month. The person you talk to is the person doing the work, start to finish. You never have to explain your business twice.
The ad account, the pages, the creative, the data, all of it goes on your domain and into your name. If we ever part ways, you leave with the whole system, not empty-handed. Nothing is held hostage.
If I don't think I can get you results, I'll say so on the first call, and I won't try to talk you into it. A “no” from me is worth more than a “yes” you'll regret.
Not how busy it looks. Not clicks or impressions, but booked appointments and paying clients. If it doesn't move that, it doesn't matter.
None of this is generous. It's just the deal I'd want if I were the one being sold to.
Right now, I'm not only building an agency. I'm also working carpentry on a building site. It's my first time doing it, and I like it more than I expected. But I'll be honest, I want my agency back, and I'm building toward that every day around the tools.
I tell you that on purpose. Not for sympathy, but because it says something about how I work. Nothing scares me off. If there's a job to do, I do it, and I do it properly, whether it's a marketing system or a day on the tools. When you hand me your business, that's the person you're handing it to.
Outside of work you'll find me outdoors, usually fishing. And fair warning, I've got an accent, and now and then I'll say a word the wrong way. It comes with moving halfway around the world for someone.
If any of this sounds like the kind of person you'd want in your corner, let's talk. No pitch, no pressure. Just a straight conversation about your business and whether I can help.
